You Need to Do More than Read Think and Grow Rich

I have been involved in MasterMind Groups for some time and that is the ninth step to riches discussed in Think and Grow Rich.  I have a 1937 edition of the book that I refer to often and really only use it as a reference when I talk about Think and Grow Rich.  There have been multiple editions of the book published with updates and changes for political correctness and just to make a buck capitalizing on Napoleon Hill’s name even well after his death in 1970.  There is even The New Think and Grow Rich which pales in the shadow of Hill’s original work.

Regardless of the definitive number, Think and Grow Rich has been read by millions looking to transform their lives.  But just how many really make that transition?  Why hasn’t everyone who has read the book “grown rich”?  In actuality it has probably been a very small percentage, single digit I’m sure, that have made the leap.

I think there are two reasons.  First a lot of people read it one time and think they are actually implementing what they have read and when they don’t realize immediate riches, they get frustrated and give up.  Second, the “Think” part in the title is about believing in your personal capabilities and access to others.  Once you have the belief, you have to take action.

There is a spiritual part of Think and Grow Rich that is about change.  Changing the way you think, people you associate with, how you run your life…  You have to change.  But that change involves action.  Just because you “Think” you can have a million dollars doesn’t mean you will get it.  You have to take some action to make it happen; new job, your own business, heck buy a lottery ticket but take some sort of action to make it happen.

So, after you have read the book (great action by the way), do something, put together a plan, write down your goal, track them and take action to make things happen.  And then re-read Think and Grow Rich.
